Carl Pappe Bronze Sculpture of a Donkey or Burro Marked Taxco.
This is a 1950-1960's Carl Pappe Donkey on a wood base. It is marked on the base of the bronze Carl Pappe on one side Taxco is marked on the back and Rosita on other side. From a series Pappe completed showcasing studies of foals in various positions. The surface is beautifully textured and shows a nice details. There are no breaks or cracks on the bronze or wood base.
Carl Lewis Pappe (Hungarian, 1900-1998) Pappe’s work is part of the collection of the Library of Congress. The donkey is rendered in an impressionistic manner. The patina is a mottled green. Entire piece is original. Measures approx. Base: 5" x 3” figure is 6” Long x 2 1/8" Tall
